Certain as the sun
Rising in the east
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the beast.
Last weekend, NN had 4 tickets to watch “Beauty & The Beast” The Musical, Sunway Lagoon on the premiere day, 1/12/2012. He gave 2 tickets to Globetrotter’s Lily Riani. We were seated at yellow zone, which is free seating zone. We had the back row to ourselves. But boy, the walk to the Amphitheatre nearly broke my legs. Quite far, but once seated you will enjoy 2 hours of musical production (inclusive of intermission).
The musical is directed by renowned conductor David Laugharne, best known for his notable West End productions. Beauty and the Beast has been reported to be one of the most unique musicals at Sunway Lagoon to date.
Beauty and the Beast is a classic fairy tale known to all. A handsome prince is turned into a grotesque beast by a witch after he refuses to offer her shelter. The witch then casts him a curse – if he is unable to love and be loved in return before the last petal falls from the rose, he is doomed to live the rest of his days as beast. As the story unfolds, the beast later meets Belle, a beautiful village girl. And with hope, her love might break the spell.
Peppered with modern days influence, there’s a Gangnam Style and Born This Way music in the musical. Pleasant surprise and very enjoyable. To rigid classic lovers, just enjoy the show.
