It is not easy in finding equilibrium between work and passion; in this case – My Selangor Story event against my daily job. When we were instructed to be at Premiere Hotel, Klang at 7pm on Friday, I knew I had to steal the time to work on the very day until 4pm. I left office as earlier as 3pm. Lo and behold, when the day came, Kuala Lumpur was blessed with torrential rain causing flashflood and major standstill to all roads exiting Kuala Lumpur. Despite the stormy start, I braved the weather and congested traffic to Klang, which took me almost 4 hours for a journey which would only take one and a half hours on normal traffic.

Premiere Hotel is the newest business hotel in the township of Bandar Bukit Tinggi. It has 250 rooms and suites with exclusive decorations to match with its 4-star standard. The hotel is fully equipped with an outdoor swimming pool, a fully equipped gym, a spa and 3 on-site restaurants serving cuisine ranging from Chinese, Japanese, local and international delights.
When I arrived at Premiere Hotel, the participants were at the Dining Cafe by the name of the Buzz. The food was aplenty and above all, DELICIOUS. My favourite were the Lamb Cuttlet Provencal; juicy grilled lamb with mashed potato and Salmon Noisette with Spinach Tropenate. The food had me refilling my empty plate for more than five times.
That’s how good the food was. If you are looking for a place to bring your family out for special occassion, please please have in mind the Buzz of Premiere Hotel, Klang. Thanks Premiere Hotel for preparing the good food in welcoming the participants of My Selangor Story 2013.
Just before my stomach get bloated while breaking the ice with other participants, at approximately 9.30pm., we were asked to go to our respective rooms to refresh ourself before leaving for our supper at Tanjung Harapan. It was at this juncture, I met Rika, with whom I was destined to stay in the same room for the next 5 days, for the first time. She is as sweet as cutie pie, born in Yogyakarta and now working in Jakarta.
I told her I love her country and that I just came back from hiking the highest mountain at Java, Mt. Semeru and that I have been to Indonesia more than 10 times. She responded, “You are more Indonesian than I am”. I smiled and answered, “Maybe that’s why my name tag for My Selangor Story indicates that I am an Indonesian”.
As we got to know each other, we slid open the curtain and the lights of Klang revealed the glory of this Royal town of Klang. Ladies and gentlemen, our room was on the 18th floor, the highest floor at the hotel. Little did I notice the night view of Klang was that mesmerizing before. Apart from the good view we enjoyed that night, the room itself is worth mentioning. Commensurate with its 4 star quality, the room is all you need for your weekend escapade from the hustle bustle of working life in the urban jungle. Fluffy pillows, comfortable beds, modern bathroom, excellent room service, hospitality of hotel staff, good view from 18th floor, great food – all in Premiere Hotel. That much I assure you from my experience.
For a bogged-down-with-work-lawyer, the ambience of the hotel made me forget all the pending work at the office and some packed together with my clothes for the 5 days 4 nights trip around Selangor. It marked a beginning of something great – that is My Selangor Story 2013.
Medan Muara Ikan Bakar Tanjung Harapan
The night was still young. Despite slight protest from our exhaustive bodies to enjoy the comfort of Premiere Hotel, we boarded the bus to Tanjung Harapan Seafood Restaurant. The famous seafood restaurant, also known as Medan Muara Ikan Bakar Tanjung Harapan is located by the seaside. As one walks inside the seafood restaurant, one would notice on the right side, an area dedicated for selection of seafood types. Fishes, prawns, lala, crabs, squids and many others.
According to the owner, the fresh seafood is imported from nearby Pulau Indah. If you have not known, Tanjung Harapan is within the vicinity of Port Klang, one of the most important harbours in South East Asia. That is the reason why the fresh seafood is imported from the fishermen’s island of Pulau Indah.
When asked about branch restaurant, the owner told us there’s only one branch at Medan Muara Ikan Bakar, Melaka. For those songbirds who have the courage to sing out loud, there is a karaoke lounge for you to tarnish your ‘American Idol’ talent.
Just outside the restaurant, you can find souvenir shop at the edge of the shore.
And then we finally went back to Premiere Hotel for a very good sleep.
