When I was a young kid, my father always brought us siblings to recreational parks and waterfalls. I still remember our occasional trips to Bukit Hijau Waterfall were replaced with a trip to Bukit Merah Laketown Resort Waterpark sometime in the year 2000. As you might have known by now, I was hailed from northern part of Malaysia, so Sunway Lagoon was an alien place for me until I grew older. Partly because of my mother’s phobia on the unfortunate events that occurred at Sunway Lagoon a decade ago.
Bukit Merah Laketown Resort Waterpark
The Bukit Merah Lake Town Resort waterpark spreads over 11 acres with atleast 14 attractions. Among the attractions are Boomerang and Giant Wet Bubble (The First & Only in Malaysia). Lily and I were on the chairlift when Lily excitedly shout, “I am so going to come here to be on the Giant Wet Bubble”. The Giant Wet Bubble is a huge round ball in the middle of the waterpark, which you have to climb up with the assistance of the rope. Once on top, you will be able to jump and bounce back and forth. Coming down from the giant wet buble is only a slide away.
There are also Sandy Beachfront Wave Pool, Water Speed Slides, Body Slides, Giant Tube Slides, Lazy River, Kids Adventure River, Jumbo Shower, Water Pillar and Waterfront Bridge.
If you have no idea where to bring your kids, you may want to try Bukit Merah Laketown Resort Waterpark.
Bukit Merah Laketown’s Chairlift
The chairlift is recommended for those who would like to have a bird’s eyes view of Bukit Merah Laketown Resort. Although the movement of the chairlift is as such that it might break apart, the chairlift ride was splendid. From the far end of the horizon, the landscape changes from mountain view to colourful theme park. On top, it looked as if the waterpark and the lake were combined together.
It was fun doing people watching from the chairlift. You could hardly see a sad face at a water theme park. Full of smiles and laughter.
Ecopark
Another place of interest that I visited during the trip is the ecopark – an interactive, fun and educational park where visitors are allowed to mingle, feed and touch some of the tame animals.
I don’t know why but one of the animals that stick to my mind until now is the binturung (cat bear).
Believe it or not, I mingled with a python. Of course, under close surveillance of the eco park staff. Upon entering the cage area, some of us were given a plastic bag full of animal food. The accompanying officer would then tell us what food what animals eat.
We were also taken for animal show. Not a huge one you see in the zoo. But enough to entertain us.
