When Bun invited me to join him to go to Jeram Perlus of Hulu Langat, I was quite reluctant for I didn’t know him very well. He had been assigned to lead a group of people to Jeram Perlus and set up the ropes for waterfall canyoning. Interesting right?
Last minute decision, I agreed to go. We were joined by Koroi, another friend of ours. Jeram Perlus is located in Hulu Langat. As we were approaching the starting point, I noticed we were entering orang asli settlement in Hulu Langat. We parked our car near the orang asli houses with some amount of money paid to the owner of the house. Although, Jeram Perlus requires moderate trekking to reach the waterfall, it is important for all participants. So Bun conducted warming up session with the participants. While we stretched our muscles, small kids with light-brown-to-blonde hair and happy smiling faces eyed on us amused. Cheeky me, frantically waved my hands to them and they seemed to adore me much watching each step in all their shyness.
We started to walk through the orang asli’s orchad only to find we had missed the junction and took the wrong turn. After awhile, we were back on track. The long moderate trail is full with blood-hunger leeches.
Eh, look at what we found on our way to the waterfall.
After 2 hours, we reached our intended destination,Jeram Perlus Waterfall. Because of its hiddenlocation, not many people knows about Jeram Perlus. It’s good because the waterfall area is untouched with human carelessness in protecting the environment. We set up our camp site and the BBQ began slightly after 6.30pm.
At night, we started the usual heart-to-heart session. Whatever happened in Jeram Perlus, stays in Jeram Perlus forever.
So the next morning, the waterfall canyoning commenced. I took the chance to try it too. Awesome, but it might just as scary if you are afraid of height!
