Do you know Melaka opened its aviary bird park in March 2013? Melaka Bird Park is the only bird park in the world to have the largest collection of Malaysian bird species. Its mission is to be the country’s number 1 bird park simultaneously help to conserve local bird species and their habitats in Malaysia. At the moment, Melaka Bird Park has 30 species of bird and is awaiting for more to come.
The aviary park consists of 27m high netting cum canopy walk platform tower with 108m canopy walk platform. Melaka Bird Park is also home to bird species from other region such as South America, Asia, Australia, and Africa.
If you can’t take the stairs, there is a lift exit point onto the platform.
Upon entering the bird park, we were greeted by a pair of kalkatua bird species. They were very tame that you could go near them. If the birds are comfortable with you, they will walk over to your shoulders.
The birds including the parrots and peacocks roam around the park igniting the feeling of entering a bird house. Angry birds of the bird park are the peacocks as ostriches and kasouris were nowhere to be seen.
I tried to chase the mandarin ducks but to no avail. Better luck next time. But I managed to capture a picture of a sleeping bird.
