From making my own masala chai (mixed-spice tea) in Hyderabad to sitting at a verandah of traditional balinese house with a ketut family in Bali to spending a night at hill top old monastery in the dense jungle of Myanmar, I do not travel for the sake of sight seeing or crossing down yet another destination. I see, hear, taste, smell and touch the essence of travel. This is what I intend if to do I get selected for My Selangor Story 2013.
Since the introduction of low-cost carrier in Malaysia, the focus had always been destinations outside Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. The hidden travel gem behind my backyard was left forgotten until the day I joined Tourism Selangor Day Out (#tsdayout). Since then I have started to look at Selangor from a positive angle and #tsdayout has become a routine for which I will try level best to join each outing. In fact, I have taken some steps now to venture on my own.
Travel is as such that the more you explore a place, the more you learn about new interesting places of the said place. The list seems not exhaustive. The same goes to Selangor. With #tsdayout outings to Kuala Selangor, Tanjung Sepat and Kuala Langat, there are still many places I have not been. The excitement is always there each month to know which destination #tsdayout will explore next.
That is how impactful #tsdayout to my life.
Not only I use my five senses during travel, but I love photography and I love sharing my travel stories. What is the use of going to interesting places and keeping them to yourself, right? I encourage my friends, relatives and readers to go beyond their comfort zones and travel more. When speaking of travel destination, I learn that it is not necessarily be a place far off, it can just be within Klang Valley – hence the importance of highlighting tourism industry in Selangor.
Given the same subject, I believe everyone has their own version of story to tell. I hope by being selected to participate in My Selangor Story 2013, I will be able to share my version of Selangor story by seeing, tasting, hearing, smelling and touching the essence of Selangor.
