Overview on Coron Palawan Trip
November 3, 2012 Coron

The trip to Coron Palawan was a success except for the last bit of the journey to the airport which had contributed to my missed departure to Kuala Lumpur. Just after I had the time to click through the pictures taken during the trip, I posted 10 teaser photos on my facebook and 3 on twitter. Common questions asked are where Coron is and how to get there.

When I did my research on Palawan, I stumbled upon a group of islands known as Coron Islands. Those who had explored Palawan recommended Coron Palawan as the most beautiful part of Palawan, even more beautiful than its southern leg known to many for its subterranean river and white sand beaches in Puerto Princessa and Elnido. We consulted the map to ascertain our means of transportation if we were to fly in to Puerto Princessa. It’s 10 hours by bus from Puerto Princessa to El Nido and further 10 hours by boat from El Nido to Coron. As we only have 7D6N itinerary, we decided to fly to Busuanga from Manila Airport.

Coron offers one of the best unspoiled beaches and lakes of the Philippines. I still remember the night we ate dinner with new Filipino friends who were kind enough to celebrate my birthday, I asked where else shall I go in the Philippines. Wil retorted, “You have come to the top list of the Philippines, forget elsewhere. You’ve been to the best”. I continued asking, “What about Boracay?”. Jana added, “Well, it depends on what you are looking for. If it’s for beach parties, then Boracay is the place to be. For unspoiled beaches, it’s here in Coron”.

So much Coron has to offer, I am practically in love with this far-off island. I will be back in 5 years time.

The trip to Coron Palawan is a DIY trip except for the boat tour I did in Coron. That was organized by Coron Galleri. It’s possible to go by end of May. You should! I recommend!
