As you would already know, my trip to Mauritius did not follow the major tourist inclination to stay within the confine of their luxury hotels. I chose to stay at different low budget hotels along my road trip route. Of all the three hotels I stayed, I loved Coconut Comfy Studio, La Gaulette the most.
Since it was the cheapest accommodation one could find in close vicinity of luxurious Le Morne, I expected a run down fishing village house. When I was ushered into a studio room attached to a bungalow in a posh neighbourhood, I told myself it could not get any better than this. I paid EURO107 for two nights. It was cheaper than the luxury resorts lining the Le Morne coastal.

The location is strategic if you are planning to visit Tamarin (18 minutes drive), Black River Gorges National Park (22 minutes), Le Morne beaches (5 minutes), Le Morne Brabant (6 minutes) and Seven Coloured Earth in Chamarel (15 minutes).

There is a supermarket nearby where I bought canned food and fresh vegetable. And I found rows of Ayam Brand Sardines. Back at Coconut Comfy Studio, La Gaulette, there is a wet kitchen which I cooked food throughout the stay. Except for some delis at La Gaulette supermarket, it is quite difficult to find food especially at night.
