My return flight to Kuala Lumpur with SilkAir was full of surprises. With 3 other bloggers on board with me, we were not confirmed if we were to be upgraded yet again. As we were about to check-in, we noticed the queue was moving super slow than usual. The lady from the other line informed us that the flight was not flying today because of technical delay in Singapore and the crew would exceed their flying hours if we were to fly back to Singapore the same night.
SilkAir and Flight Delay Experience
It was my first time facing a flight delayed to the next day. Under the circumstances, we often hear all the bad experiences related to the delay. The moment we were informed of the fact that the flight got delayed and we had to stay in Kochi for another day, we had an instinct we would be taken care of by SilkAir ground handling officer. Despite the angry passengers everywhere, the staff handled the transfer to our respective hotels smoothly.
Walking out of the departure hall for hotel transfer.
My only concern was the fact that I had spent the few Indian rupees I had left to wrap my luggage.
A Night Stay at Courtyard Kochi Airport
As we were flying business class, we were sent to Courtyard Kochi Airport. What a pleasant surprise to be able to stay at another 4 stars hotel after being pampered with 4-5 stars hotel for the past two weeks. After having another round of Indian buffet dinner, I dozed off to sleep quickly after a long day exploring Mattancherry and Fort Kochi.
The next morning, I received a letter under the door informing that our flight would be departing at 2.30pm. One funny incident occurred at the cafe during breakfast when the waiter asked if I wanted to join my friends while showing to a table full of stewardesses. Either I have a potential to be an air stewardess or the lady mistook me as one since I shared the same fair complexion like those stewardesses from SilkAir.
A bit of hotel tour before leaving for the airport.
Despite the inevitable hiccups we faced, we were well-taken care from the moment we were informed of the delayed flight up until we embarked on the SilkAir’s plane the next day.
SilkAir Business Class (Kochi – Singapore)
On board SilkAir’s MI467. This time, it would be SilkAir Business Class (Kochi-Singapore). It’s a 737-800.
Kochi to Singapore sector would always be one of the best air travel experience for me. From the moment I occupied my seat, I was treated like a princess yet again. But this time, the flight attendant added a personal touch in preparing my drinks. I do not drink wine, so he prepared mocktail for me. Each cup was of different mixtures. At one time, Brittany asked if I were drinking whiskey because of the colour of my drinks! It was just coke and sprite.
I opted for the western menu because I could not bear another Indian meal.

Missed connection & Transfer to Village Hotel for Overnight Stay
As soon as we disembarked, there was already a counter manned by SilkAir ground staff, who would assist us with our onward flight to our respective destinations.
Since my flight would be leaving the next morning at 6am, I was given a taxi voucher and a meal voucher. I was taken to Village Hotel for refreshment and sleep.
Another room surprise. A spacious hotel room with a living hall.
At 5am, a taxi was arranged to send me to the airport. The hotel gave me money to pay for the taxi fare. I safely arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 8.00am.
