I was hosted by a friend who is residing in Johor when he brought me to Tanjung Piai National Park, Johor for sunset. It was almost an hour drive to Tanjung Piai from Johor Bahru.
When we arrive at Tanjung Piai NP, it was already late and we could not enter the park. However, we were allowed to linger around the area and take some pictures.
Tanjung Piai National Park
The Southernmost Tip of Mainland Asia
That’s what is said on the obelisk of welcome at Tanjung Piai National Park entrance. I have never known the fact that a cape in the state of Johor is actually the southernmost point of mainland Eurasia. If you look at the map on the obelisk, it is no doubt a true statement. Walked along the wooden jetty, the cape is safeguarded by mangrove forests and of course a troop of long-tailed macaques. They are very naughty; be mindful whenever they are approaching you.
We noticed there are camping sites perched among the connecting jetty on a slightly raised platform. The last time I stayed in a spartan mangrove jungle, I had to be jabbed at my bottom because of the deadly mosquito bite. Think hard if you want to camp out here.
After that, we drove to the seafood restaurant area and walked through the concrete bridge. Apparently, the seafood restaurant is quiet famous for family outings. It’s like Jeram’s seafood restaurant. Because we were still stuffed, we did not patron the seafood restaurant.
Tanjung Piai Resort
We marched further to discover the water chalets being operated by the seafood restaurant owner or at the least, both share same management board.
Very pleasant and nice view around the area. Very few people.

The view at dusk over the lighthouse which blinks every 3 seconds was awesome! Anyone with photography interest might also want to capture pictures from the nearby fishing village.
Although the trip to Tanjung Piai National Park is very short, I am glad I discover the southernmost tip of mainland Asia.
