Two young lads walking ahead of me were a little to0 fast for me to catch up through the fertile muddy trail only few have explored. My black trekking pants were marred with red-coloured mud ankle high. The mud had formed a new layer below my shoes sole that I could no longer feel the even ground. The plains were flat beyond reach. I was walking on the Turkish Abraham Path, a long distance walking trail across the Middle East which connects the site visited by Abraham/ Prophet Ibrahim. The Abraham Path currently extends across 1078 kilometers (about 670 miles) through four countries and the eventual path will traverse 5,000 kilometers (about 3,000 miles) through ten countries.
Urfa > Harran > Aljoun > Nablus > Jericho > Jerusalem >Bethlehem > Hebron > Negev
We walked uphill and downhill and found ancient shrines in the middle of nowhere. Only thing about the walking trail was that the guides who walked me through the trail spoke no English.
There was a gathering of sheep in the fields. The sheep had been tagged, quite a modern for the farmer to tag his sheep at far away land like Yuvacali village. Far ahead, I saw a man performing his prayer in the middle of the field.
If not for the stomach pain, I could have walked farther than mere 2km from Yuvacali village. Perhaps, I shall continue my quest to complete the Turkish Abraham Path which takes 10 days to complete.
After bidding farewell to Orhan’s family for opening their door for me, I was sent to Hilvan station to take a dolmus bus to Sanliurfa. A funny incident occurred during the journey when an old lady forgot to bring her purse and she had no money at all with her. It was made known to the bus driver who drove the dolmus bus to her house. Imagine a mini bus full of passengers being driven at your house door and they were made to wait for you to get your purse. Her house was located in the maze of narrow streets.
