Few months ago, my friends and I planned for white water rafting expedition at Ulu Slim substituting our initial plan to Sedim White Water Rafting. We left Kuala Lumpur as early as 7a.m. and arrived at Ulu Slim slightly before 9a.m. We weren’t the only team of 8 who signed up for the expedition. There were atleast 20 others including media team from Utusan.
The meet-up point is Kampung Ulu Slim. From here the participants will be transferred to the starting point. 30 minutes drive. When we arrived we were given safety jacket and paddle. The participants were then briefed on the safety precaution during the expedition. We learned some signals too. When the guide shouts bum bummmm, one shall hold tight to the rope and keep your body low to the floor of your white water raft. Jump jump means you need to jump in sitting position. Paddle forward is self-explained.
Ulu Slim White Water Rafting is of first to third grade; fifth grade being the hardest. But then, I did not expect it requires full technical skills to go through 8 hours rafting. It was supposed to be 3 -4 hours.
When the tide is low and the water is shallow, the difficulty rises. So technical, we were too tired to finish it off.
