Due to time constraint, we had to pass Monster Village and replaced it with Gaomei Wetlands Preservation Area. When we arrived in Taichung at near dusk, we understood why Gaomei Wetlands was the better option. Gaomei Wetlands is the best place to watch the sunset and the golden hours.
The wind turbines were the first thing I noticed in Gaomei Wetlands. Apparently, there used to be 18 wind turbines belonging to Taiwan Power Company in Taichung. However, in August 2015, Typhoon Soudelor destroyed 6 wind turbines.
The rich wetland ecology is the by results of the mixture of sand and soil textures over 1,500 acres in area. Gaomei Wetlands also has the largest group of Bolboschoenus planieulmis, an important wetland plant, in Taiwan. Due to its ecological values, large flocks of migrating birds can be seen during the winter season making the area an attraction to the bird watchers. Gaomei Wetlands is important to serve as natural flood control and maintain wetlands biodiversity.
Sunset is the peak time for the locals to walk along the boardwalk with their friends and family. Breathe in the calamity of the sea and be at peace or take memorable pictures with your loved ones.

nice view of sunset, there is one question, is the turbine damaged by the typhoon not repaired?
